A Message from Dominic Blakemore: Gary Green Awarded CBE by His Majesty The King

As we see in the new year, we have another highlight to add to an already brilliant 2025.

It is with absolute pleasure that I offer my warmest congratulations to Gary Green who has been awarded a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to International Business, Industry and the UK economy.

A CBE is one of the highest honours bestowed by His Majesty The King in his New Year Honours List in the UK and celebrates Gary’s exceptional leadership and contribution to our industry.

As you know, Gary was a central figure in the history of our business for nearly 40 years before retiring as Group Chief Operating Officer, North America, in 2023. During his tenure, he was instrumental in growing our North American revenues from nearly $3bn in 1999 to $28bn in 2023 and profits from $100m to just under $2.5bn. He oversaw numerous acquisitions and steered our entry into key new markets. Our business would not be the great success story it is today without him.

So, this prestigious recognition is a more than fitting reflection of Gary’s exceptional service and impact at Compass Group and beyond.

Gary will not enjoy all the fuss and attention, but this should be a source of incredible pride, both for him and for us all.
