What does developing your associates mean to you?
Developing my associates means showing them that there is always a new day coming and two ways to look at a situation. One of the most meaningful quotes I regularly share comes from Booker T. Washington, “There are two ways to exert one’s strength: one is pushing down, the other is pulling up”. This is what I want my employees to realize each and every day.

How has working at Compass Group helped you in your own development?
Compass Group has put my career goals on the fast track. Compass Group offers many trainings to help shape my development as a leader and my desire to continue to learn. My experience in the MIT program was amazing and helped me start off on the right track. I was able to fully embrace the Morrison Healthcare standards, collaborate with other leaders at an account and drive enthusiasm for Morrison Healthcare programs with the front-line staff.

What advice do you have for Compass Group associates looking to develop their careers??
Always take the initiative to drive your own success. If you don’t know, ask. If the day is overwhelming, remember tomorrow is coming. Finally, don’t forget the importance of a please, a thank you, and a smile.

How do you maintain a healthy work/life balance?
I take a step back. If it has been a stressful week, I shut my laptop and give myself some “me time.” The work will be there when I return.

Is there anything you are really passionate about outside of work?
Hiking, my dogs (Shiba Inu and Blue Heeler) and motivational based books. I am also passionate about the importance of food access and our personal utilization of local farmers.
