Celebrating Black History Month 2024
February is Black History Month. Compass Group is exploring “Black Futures – African Americans and the Arts.” From cultural and artistic influences around the globe to achievement in the performing and culinary arts by our own associates, people of the African Diaspora continue to forge a creative path forward.
We recognize that there are stars in our midst. We’re celebrating several Compass Group associates who also excel in the performing and culinary arts:
Canteen’s Tevin Williams started singing and directing choirs by the age of 7 and in middle school added percussion and saxophone.
Listen to Tevin jam here.
Levy’s Benedict Uchechukwu Ojei (aka Ben Official) is a Nigerian American singer, songwriter, and producer.
Tune into a performance by Ben here.
A shoutout to two remarkable chefs from Compass’ Women in Culinary program: Kitami Lentz, executive development chef of culinary training and activation for Bon Appétit whose recipe work in plant forward cooking and cultural cuisines is award-winning. And Chartwells K12 Chef Vanessa Nashe who leads a diverse team in incorporating various cultures, cuisines, and cooking techniques in the Norwalk (Connecticut) Public Schools district.
Stay tuned! Across February you’ll meet a few more of our associates who are helping us commemorate Black History Month.
