Local Chefs Join A Multi-City Event to Share Their Global Food Traditions

Charlotte, NC
(October 14, 2024) – During the week of October 14th, Compass Group USA, part of the world’s leading food and support services company, is launching Heritage Kitchen, a special celebration of global cuisine and culture in more than 20 cities across the country. In partnership with Food Fleet, a mobile food provider and management company, Heritage Kitchen presents a unique opportunity to create meaningful dining experiences with small businesses, many of which are women and minority owned, while honoring their tradition and uniting people through food.

“Heritage Kitchen amplifies our collective commitment to help small and diverse partners thrive, honoring their heritage, telling their stories, strengthening local connections, and uniting people through food,” said Susie Weintraub, CEO of Envision, part of Compass Group USA.

At more than 100 Heritage Kitchen events held at Compass Group operations within healthcare systems, educational institutions, cultural centers, sporting and entertainment venues, and Fortune 500 companies, local chefs will have new opportunities to share their unique foods, stories and traditions with a broader audience in the community. Guests will get a chance to meet chefs, taste new foods and hear first-hand about recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation.

“Together we are creating opportunities for small businesses to flourish, in addition to carrying on their traditions and passing them on to future generations,” said Jeffrey Mora, CEO, Food Fleet, who co-founded Heritage Kitchen with Einav Gefen, SVP Chef Innovator at Restaurant Associates.

“Heritage Kitchen is a celebration of the rich diverse culinary tapestry in our local communities. It’s a fusion of passion, tradition, and local pride plus a way for our guests to travel through their plate,” added Gefen.

Highlights of Heritage Kitchen events, include:

  • Chartwells Higher Education is piloting a new Heritage Kitchen concept at Quinnipiac University where favorite food trucks take over a dedicated indoor station each week in the resident dining hall. A digital monitor display at the station highlights owner-operators, like the Taste of Grill founder, whose Mediterranean cuisine is inspired by his mother’s cooking.
  • Morrison Healthcare and Northside hospitals in Atlanta will treat clinical caregivers and guests to a Heritage Kitchen station takeover and onsite food truck featuring 6 Pack Subs, Vietnamese Street Food inspired by open-air markets, and Made with Love, who serve homecooked food that feeds the soul and the belly.
  • CCL Hospitality Group and Canterbury Court are extending the warmth of its senior living community to special guests, owners of Taqueria El Mariachi.  The husband-and-wife team will honor their Mexican roots, share recipes perfected by generations and the stories behind them with residents over dinner.
  • CulinArt will feature Heritage Kitchen partners at Norton Rose Fulbright, a law firm in midtown Manhattan, where local businesses visit monthly, including Kimchi Grill which shares the owner’s love for Korean food and Bazodee Street Foods, a fusion of global flavors. Washington International School and Maret School, both served by CulinArt in the nation’s capital, plan to host Rasa, a fast-casual restaurant providing “vibrant, healthy Indian food” in the form of wraps and bowls.
  • Levy Restaurants’ client, Prudential Center and the New Jersey Devils, launched a new era for hospitality with a season-long rotating pop-up series that ensures a Jersey-made focus for fans with local partners and a continued emphasis on cultural celebration through Heritage Kitchen.
