Sundays Around the Family Table

Yarian Rodriguez | Supervisor | Unidine
“I was born and raised on a farm in Cuba, and one of my favorite memories is how, every Sunday, my entire family would gather for a wonderful lunch of rice, beans, roasted pork, and fried plantains.
As always, my grandmother would bake her famous rice pudding for dessert. There was always music playing, and we would spend hours laughing and playing dominoes together.
Since becoming a mother, these memories have become even more meaningful, reminding me to cherish every moment I spend with my own family.
Being part of Hispanic heritage means honoring the values and traditions that have shaped who I am. It inspires me to pass on our culture to my children. To me, being Cuban means celebrating resilience, love, hospitality, and the joy of bringing everyone together.”
